Frequently Asked Questions

Which files can I upload?

A solo piano recording in WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, or OGG, up to 4 minutes. For a .mid file, use MIDI to Sheet.

What do I get back?

A preview of the engraved grand staff, a PDF, page images, a MusicXML file, and the transcribed MIDI file. The MIDI file keeps the sustain pedal. The page leaves the pedal off.

Will this match what was played?

It is a transcription of a solo piano. Repeated notes, trills, and very thick chords can still differ from the performance. Beams, slurs, and spelling can differ from a published edition.

Does the audio stay on my phone?

No. The recording is uploaded so the piano model can run on the server. Piano Coach practice listening still stays on the device and does not use this tool.

Can the score show finger numbers?

Yes. Numbers are printed on the notes: 1 is the thumb and 5 is the pinky. They are a starting suggestion. Turn them off if you want an unmarked score.

What if the timing is uneven?

Snap to 16th notes, 8th notes, or triplets. Choose Keep heard rhythm when you want the timing left as the model heard it.
